Camaya

Edwin Navarro Camaya is a Kapampangan nationalist and cultural activist from the Province of Tarlac. He comes from a line of distinguished Kapampangan revolutionaries who fought against Spain in the late 19th century. He was one of the first to publicly use Kulitan in everyday communication in the late 1980s when he was still an active member of the Akademyang Kapampangan. In the early 1990s, he co-founded the UP MIyabeyabe, a Kapampangan student organization at the University of the Philippines in Los Baños, where Kulitan literacy was one of the requirements for membership. In 1997, Camaya co-founded the Batiáuan Foundation, a Kapampangan research foundation where Kulitan literacy and popularization was one of its main projects.
